No: Verizon shut down its CDMA network on December 31, 2022.
The quick answer
- CDMA-only phones: no service
- Verizon 4G phones with VoLTE: yes
- Check the phone's box or settings for "VoLTE" or "HD Voice"
- Verizon's IMEI checker gives a definite answer
How it works now
Phones that only supported Verizon's 3G CDMA network can't connect. Verizon 4G phones that support VoLTE still work, including many Verizon flip phones sold after 2017.
Who it still works for
If your phone only shows 1X or 3G, it's time to replace it.
If you're replacing it
A new moto g 2026 or Galaxy A17 costs little, gets years of updates, and several carriers give them away when you switch. Pair it with a low-cost plan such as Mint Mobile ($15 a month for 6GB on a 12-month term) or Visible ($25 for unlimited, taxes included).
Current offers from Metro, T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T and Xfinity.
