T-Mobile's lineup splits cleanly. Essentials Saver is the budget option — unlimited talk and text with 50GB of premium data and none of the extras. The Experience tiers add unlimited premium data, streaming subscriptions, large hotspot allowances and international data, plus a five-year price guarantee on talk, text and 5G data.
The pricing only makes sense at multiple lines. Experience Beyond is $100 for one line and $53.75 per line at four — and there's currently a third-line-free promotion that puts three lines at $170. Judging T-Mobile on its single-line price gives you the wrong answer.

Multi-line pricing
T-Mobile's per-line cost falls sharply with lines, helped by a current third-line-free promotion. Totals are for the whole account with AutoPay, excluding taxes and fees.
Third-line-free is applied via monthly bill credits and stops if you cancel a line. Essentials is not sold as a single line at these rates. Prices exclude taxes, fees and the device connection charge of up to $35 per line.
What it really costs
Single-line pricing is where T-Mobile looks worst. $100 for one line on Beyond falls to $53.75 per line at four and $49.38 at eight. If you're buying one line, prepaid brands on the same network — Metro at $30, Mint, Ultra — do the job for a fraction of it.
The current third-line-free promotion is doing a lot of work in these numbers: three lines on Beyond are $170, the same as two lines plus a free one. The credits stop if you cancel a line, so the per-line maths changes if the account shrinks.
Read the benefits as money. T-Mobile values Beyond's bundle at Netflix $8.99, Apple TV $9.99, Hulu $11.99, satellite $10 and ScamShield Premium $4 per month. If you'd buy even half of those, the effective price drops substantially — if you'd buy none, you're paying for them anyway.
The five-year price guarantee covers talk, text and 5G data only, with taxes and fees excluded. It's a real commitment and longer than Verizon's three years, but it isn't a guarantee that your bill won't move.

Experience Beyond is $170 for three lines, $215 for four and $260 for five — $53.75 per line at four. Experience More is $140, $170 and $200. A third-line-free promotion is currently applied via bill credits and ends if you cancel a line.
Does T-Mobile Essentials have unlimited data?
Data is unlimited but it isn't premium. T-Mobile notes that Essentials customers may see lower speeds than other customers, with further reduction above 50GB a month, and video typically streams in SD.
Is T-Mobile prepaid cheaper than postpaid?
