Jitterbug phones are sold by Lively for older adults. Whether yours still works depends on whether it's a 3G or a 4G model.
The quick answer
- 3G models (such as the Jitterbug 5 and Jitterbug Plus): no longer work
- 4G models (Jitterbug Flip2, Smart3, Smart4): still work with Lively
- Not sure? Check the model name in the settings or on the label under the battery
- Lively customer service can confirm and help you upgrade
Calls after the 3G shutdown
When US carriers shut down their 3G networks, older Jitterbugs built for 3G stopped connecting. Lively's 4G LTE models, like the Jitterbug Flip2 and the Jitterbug Smart phones, use 4G with VoLTE and still work on Lively's service.
Lively's service and features
Lively plans include features designed for older adults, such as one-touch urgent response on some plans. If you're on an old 3G phone, ask Lively about upgrade offers; it has run discounted upgrade programs for customers on retired devices.
Who it still works for
The 4G models remain a good, simple choice for older adults who want big buttons and clear audio. 3G models should be replaced.
If you're replacing it
If you'd rather use a regular carrier, a 4G flip like the Nokia 2780 Flip works on most networks, and Consumer Cellular has plans built for customers over 50, from $20 a month.
Current offers from Metro, T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T and Xfinity.
