What you'll actually pay

Read the lineup in one line and the conclusion is unavoidable: Unlimited 25 is $25 for unlimited data, and Set 5 is $25 for five gigabytes. Ting sells both. There is no usage pattern where the capped plan is the better buy.

The two upper tiers are worse still. The plan named Unlimited is $45 for 22GB of high-speed data and Unlimited Pro is $55 for 35GB. Both more expensive than the $25 plan Ting describes as unlimited high-speed. If you're on one of them, the switch is free and immediate.

The Ting Internet discount is the biggest single lever here. $15/mo off Unlimited 25 brings it to $10, which makes bundling worth checking even if Ting Internet is only marginally competitive with your current provider.

Flex math out simply: $10 plus $5 per gigabyte. One gigabyte is $15, two is $20, three is $25: the point where Unlimited 25 becomes strictly better. Track a month of real usage before choosing between them.

Ting Mobile is a good fit if…

You want unlimited data cheaply and don't need international minutes, streaming perks or a store to visit.
You use very little data — Flex at $10 plus $5/GB is cheap under about 2GB a month.
You're a Ting Internet customer, which takes Unlimited 25 down to $10/mo.
You want billing after the fact rather than prepaying, and the freedom to change plans mid-month without penalty.

Look elsewhere if…

You call internationally: Ting charges pay-per-use rates rather than bundling minutes, unlike H2O, Lycamobile or Ultra Mobile.
You want a large dedicated hotspot allowance; Ting's hotspot draws from your own data on every plan.
You want retail support you can walk into.
You're comparing on the strength of the tier names: the expensive tiers here are worse than the cheap one.

Does Ting Mobile include hotspot?+

Yes, on every plan. Hotspot draws from your plan's own data rather than having a separate allowance, so on Flex it costs $5 per gigabyte like anything else and on Unlimited 25 it comes out of your unlimited pool.

Are there overage charges on Ting?+

No. Ting states there are no data overage charges on any plan. On Flex you're billed $5 for each gigabyte you actually use rather than being penalised for passing a threshold, and the capped Set plans reduce speed instead of billing you.
