$10/mo plus $5 per gigabyte. One gigabyte is $15, two is $20, three is $25, and $25 is exactly what Ting charges for unlimited data on Unlimited 25. Three gigabytes is the break-even point, and past it Flex is simply the more expensive plan.

So this is a plan for genuinely light use. Track a month of real usage before choosing: if you're reliably under 2GB, Flex saves you $5–10/mo against unlimited. If you're anywhere near 3GB, take the unlimited plan and stop thinking about it.

The right answer for a specific person: someone whose phone lives on Wi-Fi, or who needs a cheap second line. At $10 plus $5/GB it's genuinely the cheapest way to keep a Ting number active, and the absence of overage penalties means light months cost light money. But the per-gigabyte rate is high, and Ting's own unlimited plan costs the same as three gigabytes on Flex, so this is a plan to choose from measured usage, not optimism.

Consider instead: Ting Unlimited 25. Use more than about 2GB a month? Ting Unlimited 25 is $25 flat for unlimited high-speed data, the same as three gigabytes on Flex, and $10/mo if you have Ting Internet.
