Lycamobile Plans

Nine plans on T-Mobile's network, every one with unlimited international calling to 100 countries. The 30-day prices are the least interesting thing here — the long-term rates are less than half of them.

Lycamobile is built for people who call abroad. Unlimited international talk and text to 100 countries is included on every plan, from the $15 1GB tier upward — not as an add-on, not on the top tier only.

The pricing needs care. Lycamobile advertises 30-day prices, but almost nobody should pay them: buying 12 months of the 15GB plan costs $120, against $348 at the monthly rate. That's a 66% difference for identical service, and it's the single most important thing to understand before choosing a plan here.

Long-term pricing — where the real prices are

Buying a term rather than a month is the whole game at Lycamobile. Figures below are total cost for the period; the 30-day column is the advertised monthly rate for comparison.

Plan 30 days 3 months 6 months 12 months
$15 (1GB) 30 days$15 3 months$18 6 months$48 12 months$96
$19 (5GB) 30 days$19 3 months$19.50 6 months$66 12 months$120
$23 (8GB) 30 days$23 3 months$21 6 months$78 12 months$108
$29 (15GB) 30 days$29 3 months$30 6 months$96 12 months$120
$33 (18GB) 30 days$33 3 months$30 6 months$120 12 months$144
$39 (25GB) 30 days$39 3 months$45 6 months$132 12 months$168
Unlimited Plus 30 days$49 3 months$45 6 months$168 12 months$204
Unlimited Pro 30 days$59 3 months$45 6 months$204 12 months$252

Long-term prices are promotional and shown against a list price roughly three times higher — the 15GB plan lists at $348 for 12 months and sells at $120. Verify the current rate before buying, and check what it renews at.

What it really costs

Almost nobody should buy Lycamobile by the month. The 15GB plan is $29 for 30 days or $120 for a year — $10/mo. The 8GB plan is $23 monthly or $108 annually. The term discount is far larger than at Ultra Mobile, Mint or Red Pocket.

The annual curve is oddly shaped, so read the table rather than assuming more data costs more. The 8GB plan at $108/year is cheaper than the 5GB plan at $120, and the 15GB plan matches the 5GB plan exactly. Pick on the annual price, not the monthly one.

International calling is the reason to be here. Unlimited talk and text to 100 countries is on every plan, including the $15 tier — something Ultra Mobile matches at 90+ countries but most prepaid brands charge extra for.

Two gaps worth knowing. Lycamobile doesn't publish hotspot allowances on these plans, and the long-term prices are promotional against a list price roughly three times higher — so confirm the renewal rate before committing to a year.

Expect the term prices to move. Lycamobile runs frequent promotions that undercut the rates above — we've seen the same annual unlimited plan advertised anywhere from $180 to $240 across campaigns, and three-month deals priced below the annual equivalent. Check what today's offer actually is, then check what it renews at; the renewal is the number you'll live with.

Lycamobile is a good fit if…

You call internationally — 100 countries included on every plan, at every price.
You can prepay for a term; the annual rates are less than half the monthly ones.
You want T-Mobile coverage without a T-Mobile bill.
You want a large capped allowance cheaply — 25GB works out to $14/mo annually.
You're bringing your own phone and number, with eSIM if you want instant activation.

Look elsewhere if…

You tether — Lycamobile doesn't publish hotspot allowances on these plans.
You want month-to-month flexibility at a fair price; the 30-day rates are poor value.
You want retail support you can walk into.
You want certainty about renewal pricing — the long-term rates are promotional.
You need more than 50GB at full speed on the unlimited tiers.

Frequently asked questions

What network does Lycamobile use?

T-Mobile's 5G and 4G LTE network in the United States. As an MVNO, data may be slower than T-Mobile's own customers see when the network is congested.

How much is Lycamobile per month?

30-day plans run from $15 for 1GB to $59 for Unlimited Pro. But the long-term prices are far lower — 12 months of the 8GB plan is $108, or $9/mo, and 12 months of Unlimited Plus is $204, or $17/mo.

Which Lycamobile plan is the best value?

The 8GB plan on a 12-month term at $108 — $9/mo. It's cheaper annually than the 5GB plan and includes unlimited international calling to 100 countries plus a $5 roaming credit. For unlimited data, Unlimited Plus at $204 a year is the pick.

Does Lycamobile include international calling?

Yes, on every plan — unlimited talk and text to 100 countries, including the cheapest $15 tier. Several plans also include a $5 international roaming credit for use while travelling.

Are Lycamobile's long-term plans worth it?

Substantially. The 15GB plan costs $348 for a year at the 30-day rate and sells for $120 — a 66% difference. The savings are larger than at Ultra Mobile or Red Pocket. The caveat is that these are promotional prices, so check the renewal rate before committing.

Does Lycamobile have a family plan?

Yes — a $49 Family Plan with 40GB of data and unlimited talk, text and data. Lycamobile also supports group porting for multiple lines; you arrange it by calling customer service on 1-866-277-3221.
