Straight Talk's Gold ($55) and Platinum ($65) plans include a Walmart+ membership. Walmart+ normally costs $98 a year and gets you free delivery from Walmart stores, free shipping, gas discounts and a streaming service. If you'd pay for Walmart+ anyway, it makes Gold only about $2 a month more than Silver. But if you mainly want Walmart+ and a cheap phone plan, buying them separately usually costs less.
The short answer
| If you... | Do this |
|---|---|
| Already pay for Walmart+ and want Straight Talk | Get Gold: it costs about $2 a month more than Silver after Walmart+ |
| Don't use Walmart+ | Get Silver, or StraightSAVINGS! at $25 with your own phone |
| Want the cheapest way to get a phone plan and Walmart+ | A $25 plan on Verizon's network, plus Walmart+ bought separately |
| Have Walmart+ another way (Sam's Club Plus, a credit card perk) | The perk is worth nothing to you: skip Gold for it |
What Walmart+ is
Walmart+ is Walmart's paid membership, similar to Amazon Prime. On its own it costs $98 a year or $12.95 a month. It includes:
- Free delivery from your local Walmart on orders of $35 or more, often the same day.
- Free shipping from Walmart.com with no minimum (most Marketplace items excluded).
- 10 cents off per gallon at more than 17,000 participating gas stations.
- A streaming service: regular members choose Paramount+ Essential or Peacock Premium. Straight Talk's Walmart+ page lists Paramount+.
- Scan & Go checkout in stores and early access to some sales.
Some benefits only work in the Walmart app.
Which Straight Talk plans include it
| Plan | Price | Walmart+ |
|---|---|---|
| StraightSAVINGS! | $25 (own phone) | No |
| Bronze 10GB | $35 | No |
| Silver Unlimited | $45 | No |
| Gold Unlimited | $55 | Yes |
| Platinum Unlimited | $65 | Yes |
Full plan details are in our Straight Talk plans compared guide.
What it's worth in dollars
| Walmart+ option | Price | Per month |
|---|---|---|
| Annual | $98 a year | About $8.17 |
| Monthly | $12.95 a month | $12.95 |
| Walmart+ Assist (SNAP, Medicaid and other aid, students) | $49 a year | About $4.08 |
The perk is only worth what you'd otherwise pay. If you'd buy the annual plan, count it as $8 a month. If you'd never sign up, it's worth $0, no matter what the plan page says. A quick check: at 15 gallons of gas a week, the fuel discount alone saves about $78 a year.
Is Gold worth it for Walmart+?
| Silver + buy Walmart+ yourself | Gold (Walmart+ included) | |
|---|---|---|
| Plan, 12 months | $540 | $660 |
| Walmart+ | $98 (annual) | $0 |
| Total before taxes | $638 | $660 |
Gold costs about $22 a year more than Silver plus your own Walmart+, and adds 5G Ultra Wideband, 30GB of hotspot instead of 10GB, and 100GB of cloud storage. If you'd pay for Walmart+ monthly instead ($155 a year), Gold is cheaper than Silver plus Walmart+.
The cheaper way to get both
Gold only beats buying Walmart+ separately if you'd stay with Straight Talk anyway. On the same Verizon network, other carriers cost much less:
| Option | Phone plan, 12 months | Walmart+ | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Visible + Walmart+ | $300 (taxes included) | $98 | $398 |
| Total Wireless MAX 5G BYO + Walmart+ | $300 (taxes included) | $98 | $398 |
| Straight Talk Gold | $660 + taxes | Included | About $700–$745 |
That's about $300 a year in favor of buying them separately. Straight Talk still makes sense if you want to buy, pay cash and get help at a Walmart store. See Visible vs Straight Talk and our Total Wireless plans guide.
$55 a month ($50 for the first 3 months with Auto Pay), plus taxes. Walmart+, 5G Ultra Wideband and 30GB of hotspot on Verizon's network.

How to activate it
- Get a Gold or Platinum Unlimited plan, online or at Walmart.
- Wait for a text from Straight Talk with a link that's unique to your account.
- Open the link, log in to your Straight Talk account (or create one), then sign in to your Walmart account.
- Don't sign up on Walmart.com directly: without Straight Talk's link, Walmart charges the normal price.
- No text? Straight Talk's support page explains how to request the link, or contact Straight Talk support.
Things to know before you activate
- One membership per account, not per line. A family with four Gold lines still gets one Walmart+.
- It lasts only while you stay on Gold or Platinum. Move to Silver and the membership ends.
- Already a member? Activating through Straight Talk may cancel the time you've already paid for and any trial or promo price. Let a paid year run out first, or ask Walmart about a refund.
- New Walmart+ members activating through Straight Talk have sometimes been offered Walmart Cash as a bonus. Check the current offer on Straight Talk's site.
- Straight Talk handles questions about eligibility and activation. Walmart handles questions about the membership itself.
If you have Sam's Club Plus
Since October 20, 2026, Walmart sells Walmart+ and Sam's Club Plus together for $120 a year, and Sam's Club Plus members can turn on Walmart+ at no extra cost. If that's you, Gold's Walmart+ perk adds nothing, so compare plans on everything else.
The bottom line
If you shop at Walmart, already pay for Walmart+ and want Straight Talk's in-store support, Gold is a fair deal: Walmart+ covers most of its $10 premium over Silver. If you just want the lowest total price, a $25 plan on Verizon's network plus Walmart+ bought separately saves about $300 a year.
