What we cover
Carrier News covers changes that affect what you pay or what you get: price changes, new and retired plans, fees, perk changes, launches, shutdowns, outages and settlements. If a story would not change a reader's decision about a phone plan, we usually skip it.
Where our facts come from
- The carrier first: press releases, plan pages, terms and fine print, and Broadband Facts labels.
- Filings and official records where they exist, such as the FCC, court documents and settlement sites.
- Other reporting when the carrier hasn't published details yet. We name the outlet and link to it.
Every news post ends with a Sources list. If something isn't confirmed, we say so in the post, for example "Verizon hasn't said whether the fee is per line."
Prices and dates
Prices are what the carrier lists on the day we check, before taxes unless we say otherwise. Promo prices are labeled as promos, with the regular price next to them. Dates are the carrier's announced dates, not rumors.
Updates and corrections
When a story changes, we update the post, change the "Updated" date in the byline and add a dated update note at the top saying what changed. If we get something wrong, we fix it and note the correction in the post. We don't quietly rewrite old facts.
Independence
No carrier reviews or approves our news before it's published, and no carrier pays for coverage. Some links on the site are affiliate links, and we may earn a commission if you sign up. That never decides what we report or how we describe it. See our advertiser disclosure and how we rank plans.
