A free phone isn't free if it needs a plan that costs more than you'd otherwise pay. This table adds the phone and 12 months of the required plan, before taxes.

A free phone on Silver costs $240 more in year one than bringing your own phone to StraightSAVINGS!. That's still fair value if you need a phone: the moto g stylus alone is $199.99 at Straight Talk, and Silver adds 10GB of hotspot. If you just need something basic, the $29.99 moto g bought with StraightSAVINGS! is the cheapest way in.

The free phones: Galaxy A17 5G and moto g stylus

• Both are free with Silver Unlimited ($45) or higher, while supplies last. The moto g stylus (2025) is the better phone of the two, with a built-in stylus and a $199.99 regular price.
• Buy online as a phone-and-plan bundle, or activate on Silver or higher in a Walmart store.
• Straight Talk phones unlock automatically after 60 days of active service, so you can take it to another carrier later.

iPhone 16e for $199

The iPhone 16e is $299 on its own at Straight Talk (down from $349.99), and $199 when you buy it with Silver Unlimited or higher. WhistleOut also reports $2.50 a month off Silver for the first three months. It's the cheapest new iPhone deal we've seen at a Verizon prepaid brand this fall. If an older iPhone is fine, the iPhone 13 is also $199, and the iPhone 15 is $499.99. Unlike Straight Talk's Android phones, iPhones aren't covered by Straight Talk's own limited warranty; Apple's warranty applies.

$480 off iPhone 18 Pro on Gold

The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max come with $20 off your monthly bill for 24 months ($480) when you activate on Gold Unlimited or higher. It's a credit, not a discount: you pay the phone's full price up front, and the credits stop if you drop below Gold.

• Gold Unlimited is $55 a month and includes Walmart+, 30GB of hotspot and 5G Ultra Wideband.
• With the credit, Gold works out to $35 a month for two years.
• Moving to Silver or lower ends the credits and the Gold perks, including Walmart+, the anniversary device credit and the $10 home internet discount.

Clearance phones and other offers

• Clearance: the moto g power 5G (2024) is $99.99, down from $149.99, and the 2023 model is $99.99. The moto g 64GB (2025) is $29.99. All three come with free moto buds 2 when you buy a 3-month Silver Unlimited plan; the power models are also about $4.17 a month over 24 months with Smart Pay for well-qualified customers.
• Home Internet: one month of unlimited home internet free when you buy the router and one month of service.
• Tablets: $40 a month off a Tablet Unlimited plan when you bundle it with a Straight Talk phone plan.
• Families: Silver Unlimited works out to $25 a line with four lines.

Deals for existing Straight Talk customers

Straight Talk is unusual in offering its free-phone deal to existing customers too. Gold and Platinum also earn an anniversary device credit toward a new Straight Talk phone after a year of service ($160 on Platinum, per our plan comparison). Straight Talk Rewards points can be redeemed for service and phones.

Do Straight Talk promo codes work?

Straight Talk's savings are built into prices in the cart, and deal trackers report no working text-entry codes most of the time. Coupon sites list codes for $25 off phones or a free month of service; treat them as unconfirmed unless the discount shows at checkout. Walmart sometimes prices Straight Talk phones and refill cards lower than Straight Talk's own site, especially around Black Friday.

Straight Talk vs Total Wireless phone deals

Both are Verizon-owned and sell similar phones. Total Wireless includes taxes in its prices and its $20 BYO deal is cheaper than StraightSAVINGS! once Straight Talk's taxes are added. How to get a Straight Talk phone deal

1. Pick the phone and plan together on Straight Talk's site: the discount applies in the cart.
2. Or buy at Walmart and activate on the required plan in store.
3. Bring your number: have your old carrier's account number and transfer PIN ready.
4. Turn on Auto Pay to save on the plan.
5. Keep the plan active for 60 days if you'll want to unlock the phone later.

Our verdict

If you have a phone, StraightSAVINGS! at $25 is the best deal Straight Talk sells. If you need one, the free Galaxy A17 5G on Silver is fair value, and the $199 iPhone 16e is the best iPhone deal here.
