The Nokia Lumia 1020 came out in 2013. No: it never got VoLTE on AT&T, so it can't make calls after the 3G shutdown.
The quick answer
- Calls: no
- Software: Windows Phone 8.1
- Still works offline for some features
- Worth keeping as a collectible
Why it can't connect
The 1020 was an AT&T exclusive. It has 4G data but relied on 3G for calls, which AT&T turned off in February 2022.
What still works
The 41MP camera still takes excellent photos and works without service. Microsoft's app store and services shut down, so apps are frozen.
What it's worth
It's one of the more collectible Windows phones because of the camera. Prices vary with condition.
If you're replacing it
A new moto g 2026 or Galaxy A17 costs little, gets years of updates, and several carriers give them away when you switch. Pair it with a low-cost plan such as Mint Mobile ($15 a month for 6GB on a 12-month term) or Visible ($25 for unlimited, taxes included).
Current offers from Metro, T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T and Xfinity.
