In mid-2025 it was rebranded as the T-Mobile Trial and cut to 30 days — which looked like a step backward until you read what's inside: the new trial mirrors the top-tier Experience Beyond plan. T-Mobile traded two months of duration for a month of everything. Here's what changed, why it's a smart trade, and how to run the perfect 30-day test.
What changed: 90 days → 30, data test → full plan
The 90-day Network Pass tested the raw network and little else — SD streaming, limited hotspot, no perks. It also attracted trial-hoppers rotating through carriers for free data. The 30-day T-Mobile Trial matches Verizon and AT&T on length but samples the full Un-Carrier package instead of just coverage.

Why T-Mobile made the trade
- Perks convert, coverage doesn't. Network quality among the Big Three is similar in most areas, so the differentiators are what move people — and a month of relying on the 250GB hotspot or claiming Tuesday freebies builds exactly the missing-out feeling T-Mobile wants when the trial ends.
- Comparability. A 90-day trial was unique and therefore hard to shop against. At 30 days the customer can line all three carriers up side by side, which T-Mobile is confident it wins.
- It closes the loophole. Three months of free service attracted trial-hoppers rotating between carriers rather than switchers. Thirty days is still enough to verify home, work and commute — and not enough to live on.
The 4-week test plan
- Week 1 — basics: hit your known dead spot (basement, back room), run speed tests at home/work/a busy area at 5 PM and 9 AM, and stream 4K.
- Week 2 — perks: power a workday from the hotspot, claim T-Mobile Tuesdays in the T-Life app, and test border roaming if relevant.
- Week 3 — limits: drive a different route, and take a compatible phone somewhere with no cell service to test T-Satellite texting.
- Week 4 — decide: review the Network Scorecard in T-Life (it compares trial performance against your current carrier), then price the plan that carries the perks you actually used.
Is 30 days enough?
For most people, yes — 30 days covers home, work, and the road, which is where the decision gets made. The people the shorter window genuinely hurts: rural users whose coverage varies seasonally, and anyone who wanted to verify a distant vacation spot months out. Everyone else gets the best-featured network trial on the market.
