Pricing: the per-line curve is the whole argument

$120 for three lines, $140 for four, $35 each, rising to $160 for five and $180 for six, which is the cap. The per-line rate keeps falling as you add lines, and four is where it starts to look like a deal. T-Mobile is currently running a third-line-free promo that takes three lines to $90; treat that as a discount on the $120, not the standing price.

Against Experience More at $220 for four lines, Essentials saves $80/mo. What that $80 buys is premium unthrottled data, a 60GB hotspot, Netflix, 4K video and the five-year price guarantee. Whether that's worth $960 a year depends entirely on whether your household would use them.

The right T-Mobile plan for a family that wants the network and not the extras. At $35 per line across four lines it's competitive against the Experience tiers, and 50GB of premium data per line is more headroom than most households need. The compromises are consistent: hotspot only at max 3G speeds, SD video, no price guarantee, and Essentials traffic yields to other T-Mobile customers when towers are busy. If anyone in the house tethers, the maths changes and Experience More becomes the plan to price.

Consider instead: T-Mobile Experience More. If anyone in the household tethers or you'd use the streaming and international benefits, Experience More is $70/mo more at four lines and includes all of it.
