Can You Still Use a Nokia 3310 in 2026?

It depends which Nokia 3310. The original and the 2017 2G and 3G models can't connect in the US in 2026. The 3310 4G may work if your carrier approves it.

There are several Nokia 3310s: the 2000 original, the 2017 remake in 2G and 3G versions, and a later 4G version. Only the 4G one has a chance of working in the US today.

The quick answer

  • Original 3310 (2000): no
  • 3310 (2017), 2G or 3G version: no
  • 3310 4G: possibly, if your carrier approves it for VoLTE
  • For a basic phone that definitely works, choose a newer 4G model

Which version you have

US carriers shut down 2G and 3G, so only phones with 4G LTE and approved VoLTE can make calls. The original 3310 and the 2017 2G and 3G remakes can't connect at all. The 3310 4G has LTE, but US carriers don't widely list it as approved, so check the IMEI before relying on one.

How to check yours

  1. Find the IMEI: dial *#06#, or look in the phone's settings or under the battery.
  2. Enter it in your carrier's compatibility checker. Every major carrier and most prepaid brands have one.
  3. If it isn't supported, it's usually missing approval for VoLTE (calls over 4G), which every US phone now needs.

Battery and features

The 3310 remakes still have the famous long battery life and Snake, and they work offline as alarms, calculators and music players. None run modern apps.

Who it still works for

Collectors and anyone who wants the nostalgia. As a working basic phone in the US, newer 4G models are the safer choice.

If you're replacing it

For a simple phone that works on US networks, the Nokia 2780 Flip and Nokia 6300 4G support 4G and VoLTE. Pair one with a low-cost talk-and-text or small-data plan; Mint's 6GB plan is $15 a month on a 12-month term.
