Is Google Fi Unlimited Standard worth it?
Only for the network. At $50/mo it sits between cheaper Visible+ ($26/mo, similar core service) and Fi's own Unlimited Premium ($65/mo, with 200+ country data and the perks). It makes sense for domestic users who specifically value multi-network coverage.
Is it really unlimited?
Talk and text are unlimited; data continues but drops to roughly 256 kbps after 50GB of high-speed use per cycle. That's double Unlimited Essentials and half Unlimited Premium.
How does network switching work?
Fi connects to whichever partner network is strongest — T-Mobile primary, with Verizon and US Cellular failover — for more reliable coverage than single-network MVNOs in markets with uneven strength.
Does it include hotspot?
Yes — a 25GB hotspot allowance. Google Fi counts tethering towards your monthly high-speed data, so that 25GB comes out of the plan's 50GB rather than sitting on top of it.
Does it work in other countries?
Canada and Mexico are included at full speed, with free calls and texts. Other countries require Fi's day pass or Unlimited Premium, which includes 200+ destinations.
What happened to the name Simply Unlimited?
Google renamed the tier. Simply Unlimited is now Unlimited Standard, and Unlimited Plus is now Unlimited Premium. The current lineup is Flexible, Unlimited Essentials, Unlimited Standard and Unlimited Premium.
