$20/mo plus $10 per gigabyte. One gigabyte is $30, two is $40. Unlimited Essentials is $35 with 30GB included, so the crossover lands at roughly a gigabyte and a half — below almost anyone's real usage.
Bill protection blunts the worst case by capping what data can add to your bill, but it doesn't change the arithmetic at the low end. Flexible only makes sense if your data use is close to zero, or if the line exists mainly to make calls.

For a primary phone it's the wrong choice, because Unlimited Essentials at $35 wins from about a gigabyte and a half of monthly use. Measure before choosing.
