1. The phone must be unlocked. Verizon unlocks devices automatically 60 days after purchase under its own policy. You don't have to request it, but you do have to wait out the window.
2. The device has to be paid off and not reported lost or stolen. An outstanding installment balance doesn't prevent the unlock, but a blacklisted IMEI blocks activation on any carrier.

How to move the phone over

1. Confirm the phone is unlocked and note the IMEI.
2. Run the IMEI through Straight Talk's compatibility check.
