How Page Plus $39.95 Scores

We scored Page Plus $39.95 against the same four pillars we use for every plan. Here’s how it broke down.

Value for money 6.6
Network & speed 7.5
Hotspot & features 3.5
Customer experience 5.5

Pricing: squeezed from both sides

$39.95, or $36 with Auto Refill, for 8GB works out to about $4.99 per gigabyte — well above what Red Pocket ($1.00) or Tracfone ($2.00) charge for comparable allowances.

The pressure is internal too. $55 buys fully unlimited 4G LTE with no 2G cliff, which for a $15 difference is the more coherent purchase if you're already at this level of usage.

What You Get

8GB covers moderate use without moving to unlimited
Unlimited talk and text plus a $10 international calling credit
Verizon coverage with no contract or credit check
Add-on data rolls over while service stays active
Very small taxes and fees

What You Don't Get

$4.99 per gigabyte is poor value against Red Pocket or Tracfone
No hotspot on any Page Plus plan
2G fallback once the 8GB is gone
Video streams at DVD quality
The $55 tier is fully unlimited for $15 more

How Page Plus $39.95 compares

At this price the question is whether to remove the ceiling altogether.

Auto Refill $36 $50
Data 8GB then 2G Fully unlimited LTE
Talk & text Unlimited Unlimited

Who should choose Page Plus $39.95

You use 5–8GB a month and want a hard ceiling
You text or call internationally
You want Verizon coverage with unusually low taxes and fees
You already use Page Plus and want more data without going unlimited

Who should skip it

You care about cost per gigabyte — Red Pocket and Tracfone are far cheaper
You'd exceed 8GB; the $55 tier removes the 2G cliff
You tether
You want perks or hotspot of any kind

Final Verdict

A reasonable middle tier that's hard to recommend on price. 8GB with unlimited talk, text and international texting is a fine package, but the per-gigabyte rate is uncompetitive and the plan sits awkwardly between a cheaper tier that covers light use and an unlimited tier that removes the ceiling entirely. Buy it only if 8GB is precisely your number.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Page Plus $39.95 plan include?

Unlimited talk, unlimited national and international texting, 8GB of high-speed data and a $10 international calling credit, over 30 days on Verizon's network. Auto Refill brings it to $36.

Is the $39.95 plan good value?

Not on data. At about $4.99 per gigabyte it's well above Red Pocket's $1.00 and Tracfone's $2.00 for similar allowances. Its strengths are the international inclusions and Verizon coverage with very low fees.

Should I buy the $39.95 or $55 plan?

If you regularly approach 8GB, the $55 plan is the better purchase — it's fully unlimited 4G LTE with no 2G fallback for $15 more, or $50 with Auto Refill.

Does the $39.95 plan include hotspot?

No. None of the Page Plus monthly plans or pay-as-you-go cards include mobile hotspot data.
