Pricing: $5 short of a much better plan

$30/mo with AutoPay, taxes included, and $35 for the first month. That's an honest all-in price, and Cricket deserves credit for quoting it that way while Straight Talk and Total Wireless don't.

The problem is one row up the ladder. Select Unlimited is $35/mo and unlimited. Five dollars removes the 10GB cap, the 128 Kbps cliff and the $10-per-gigabyte overage. There is no usage pattern where paying $30 for 10GB beats paying $35 for unlimited.

The weakest plan in Cricket's lineup and the clearest skip on this site. Everything good about it (AT&T coverage, included taxes, retail support) is also true of Select Unlimited at $35, which has no cap, no 128 Kbps cliff and no $10 overage. The only case for Sensible is wanting a hard usage ceiling for a child's line or a work phone, and even then the throttle is severe enough to make that a poor way to enforce it.

Consider instead: Cricket Smart Unlimited. Smart Unlimited at $45 is the tier where Cricket becomes worth buying: unlimited data, a 15GB hotspot and full Mexico and Canada usage, all taxes included.
