SAN FRANCISCO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Helium Mobile Launches Groundbreaking “Zero Plan” – Free Cell Service for All

Helium Mobile, the world’s first community-powered cellular service, today announced the launch of its revolutionary Zero Plan, a truly free phone plan designed to democratize connectivity. The Zero Plan offers 3GB of data, 300 texts, and 100 minutes—completely free, with no contracts, hidden fees, or gimmicks.

“This isn’t just a free phone plan; it’s a movement to make wireless service accessible, affordable, and rewarding for everyone,” said Coco Tang, General Manager of Helium Mobile Subscribers. “Our mission is simple: empower people, not corporations.”

A New Model for Connectivity

Helium Mobile leverages a network owned and operated by individuals, drastically reducing costs compared to traditional carriers. By combining the Helium Network with the nation’s largest 5G network, Helium Mobile provides reliable nationwide coverage for everything from everyday use to travel.

Rewarding Users, Not Just Shareholders

Unlike traditional carriers, Helium Mobile rewards its users through its innovative Cloud Points program. Subscribers earn points for activities like anonymized location sharing, referrals, and surveys. These points can be redeemed for gift cards to popular stores and services, including food delivery, rideshares, streaming subscriptions, and more—turning connectivity into tangible rewards.

Flexible Plans for Every Need

In addition to the Zero Plan, Helium Mobile offers flexible paid plans:

  • Air Plan ($15/month): 10GB of data with unlimited talk and text
  • Infinity Plan ($30/month): Unlimited data, talk, and text

All plans offer the flexibility to upgrade or downgrade as needed. Helium Mobile also supports bring-your-own-device, allowing users to keep their existing phones and numbers. Their Concierge Service helps customers seamlessly switch by managing the porting process with their old carrier.

Helium Mobile Zero Plan: Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Helium Mobile Zero Plan actually free? Yes, the Zero Plan offers a base service of 3GB of data, 300 texts, and 100 minutes at no monthly subscription cost. However, users should be aware that applicable state and local taxes and fees still apply. Starting in early 2026, Helium Mobile requires a valid payment method on file to cover these small regulatory charges.

Do I have to share my location to keep the plan? While location sharing was previously a core requirement, as of late 2025, it is no longer mandatory to keep the Zero Plan active. You simply need to use a small amount of cellular data each month to maintain your service. However, opting into anonymized location sharing remains the primary way to earn Cloud Points, which can be used for rewards.

What happens if I use more than 3GB of data? The Zero Plan is designed for light users or those who primarily use Wi-Fi. If you consistently exceed the 3GB limit, you have the flexibility to upgrade to the Air Plan (10GB) or the Infinity Plan (Unlimited) directly through the Helium Mobile app. There are no “overage fees”—your data will simply slow down or pause until the next cycle unless you choose to upgrade.

Can I keep my current phone number? Absolutely. Helium Mobile supports the porting of existing numbers from all major carriers, including Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile. Their Concierge Service is available to help manage the technical transition so you don’t experience a gap in service.

What is the Helium Network, and how is it different from 5G? The Helium Network is a community-built network of hotspots. When you are near a Helium hotspot, your phone uses that connection to save costs. When you are out of range, the service automatically switches to a partner’s national 5G network. This hybrid approach allows Helium to offer free and low-cost plans while maintaining nationwide reliability.
